Store Development Project Manager (L4)

About Leap

Leap is building the world’s largest network of branded retail stores—powered by data, systems, and scale. Our platform empowers modern brands to open beautiful, immersive retail stores faster and with less risk, working seamlessly alongside ecommerce.

We’ve already launched dozens of stores for breakout brands and we’re growing fast—adding new partners, new markets, and new challenges every week. We believe the future of retail is powered by people, tech, and creativity. At Leap, your ideas matter and your work makes a visible impact.

This role

Your mornings might begin with a quick sync with a contractor regarding the latest site buildout, followed by a design review with our in-house creative team. By the afternoon, you’ll update a brand partner on progress and adjust the budget tracker for the next store launch. You are the calm in the construction chaos, the go-to person for delivering stores that feel seamless and on-brand!

As Store Development Project Manager, you’ll lead construction efforts, expertly managing budgets, timelines, and cross-functional teams to deliver successful new store launches, redesigns, and rebrandings. Strong organizational and communication skills are key to excelling in this role.

Your expertise lies in managing timelines, fostering strong relationships with both contractors and creatives, and bringing design concepts to life—transforming spaces from renderings to fully realized, customer-ready environments.

Role Location

This New York City based role requires in-office presence 2–3 days per week at our Tribeca location.

Core Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage multiple, concurrent store development projects, ensuring timelines, budgets, and vendor performance are meticulously tracked and optimized from pre-construction through final handoff.
  • Drive seamless cross-functional collaboration by serving as a key liaison between internal teams—such as design, technology, retail operations, and merchandising—and external partners including contractors, architects, and brand stakeholders.
  • Conduct comprehensive site visits and on-the-ground assessments, proactively identifying and resolving construction challenges while upholding Leap’s elevated standards of quality, brand integrity, and customer experience.
  • Continuously enhance Leap’s store development processes, contributing to the evolution of our internal playbook and strengthening our vendor network to support efficiency, scalability, and excellence across all projects.

Measure of Success in Year 1

  • You’ll help launch 10–15 brand partner stores, managing build budgets ranging from $50K–$150K each. You’ll lead cross-functional coordination across 5+ teams and contribute to a 15% reduction in average build time

Candidate Requirements

  • Proven ability to lead multi-site retail buildouts with a minimum of 5 years’ experience, ideally within fast-growth, brand-driven, or consumer-focused environments.
  • In-depth understanding of permitting processes, construction timelines, and budget management across diverse U.S. markets.
  • Proficient in interpreting architectural plans, shop drawings, and construction documents, with the confidence to make informed decisions in the field.
  • Demonstrated success in managing multiple general contractors, designers, and brand stakeholders to deliver high-quality retail spaces on accelerated time lines.
  • Experience owning end-to-end project execution, from pre-construction through to store handoff.
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills, with a talent for keeping cross-functional teams and external partners aligned throughout complex project lifecycles.
  • Comfortable serving as a key liaison between internal departments and external vendors, ensuring a seamless, collaborative workflow.
  • Willingness to travel up to 60% to actively oversee construction progress and ensure site-level execution meets Leap’s quality standards.
  • Prior experience in a client-facing construction project management role or with consumer retail brands is a strong plus.
