About the role:

The Business Development Representative role is a unique opportunity to evaluate and partner with modern emerging brands with high growth, compelling value propositions, and passionate fans in a range of categories (e.g apparel/fashion, home goods, beauty, fitness, and more). This individual is a goal-oriented, curious, and data-driven person who will drive awareness and interest from modern emerging brands to our Platform. This role will report to the Demand Generation Manager based out of New York. 

 

The Business Development Representative will be the first point of contact for prospecting and qualifying potential clients to help our Growth team build its sales pipeline. He/she will be responsible for sourcing high-quality emerging brands by leveraging data and research to inform platform growth and category expansion to support our top-of-funnel efforts. They will be responsible for brand outreach via Hubspot, scheduling initial & subsequent meetings, pitching when necessary, and ultimately driving prospective brand customers towards qualification and onboarding. They will be responsible for leveraging data to inform sourcing strategies to recruit the next set of brands and informing them on the value of the Leap platform as they take next steps towards omnichannel retail. This individual will generate new opportunities with highly desirable brands by engaging via email, LinkedIn, social media, and other outlets to ultimately schedule live meetings with prospective brand customers. This individual will have a large impact on the top of funnel growth to ultimately drive growth on the platform, with the ability to grow into a senior role on the Business Development/Growth team in 12-18 months of time. 

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Prospect, qualify, and distribute outbound/inbound leads to create sales-ready opportunities
  • Contribute to build and source-target account lists 
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and up-to-date data for all prospects and accounts in our CRM
  • Research prospective brands to empower the Growth team before scheduled meetings
  • Refine basic internal Sales/Growth collateral 
  • Work closely with Growth, Marketing, and Real Estate teams to share knowledge, resources, best practices, SOPs, and help develop sales procedures
  • Collaborate cross functionally with the Real Estate, Business Development, and Marketing teams to drive opportunities with brand customers 
  • Create thoughtful, strategic outbound content to target potential customers, categories, and channels, while continuously testing & learning to optimize these workflows over time
  • Assist and respond to inbound brand leads via Leap’s online onboarding brand platform (Intercom)

 

In your first month, you will:

  • Address business needs on how to optimize prospecting efforts related to sourcing, prospecting, and outreach to qualified brands to join the Leap platform
  • Help build out a robust top of funnel pipeline by collaborating with prospecting efforts across multiple categories/new brands and leveraging existing systems and data
  • Assist in the development and ever-evolving prospecting strategy
  • Liaise between the top of funnel prospects by setting meetings and strategically partnering with the Growth team in external facing meetings 

 

Desired experience and attributes:

  • 1-3 years of sales experience
  • 1+ year of experience with a CRM (Hubspot or Salesforce preferred)
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced, dynamic working environments
  • Creative thinker with ability to think outside of the box while approaching obstacles 
  • Tenacious and goal-oriented - a plus if you have proven experience in successfully being held accountable to a goal-set sales environment, business development or account management
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills  
  • Capable of absorbing data to create analytically based strategies
  • Fully proficient in a Mac and Google environment, Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Strong high-level working knowledge of modern emerging brands, retail, and e-commerce industry landscapes

Outcomes & measures of success:

  • Add, develop and land new commercial relationships for the Platform
  • Strategize against weekly/monthly BD category hits to develop scalable lead generation and qualification framework 
  • Assist in the creation of a framework to commercialize top of funnel BD efforts 
  • Successfully represent Leap as the leading “Retail-as-a-Service” Platform in the marketplace amongst brands, industry partners, and peers
